Pullen Park

These are the pictures of our Pullen Park trip in August. The first time Colin went to Pullen Park was when he was still a mere bun in the oven at my graduation celebration. I'm sure he had a lot more fun this visit, however, it was REALLY hot that day and mommy couldn't take the heat for long.

A picture of Colin sitting on the turtle. Wouldn't give up his drink for the picture...I guess it is good to stay hydrated on hot days.

Colin and mommy on the carousel. We rode twice....the first time Colin sat by himself and held on like a good boy. The second time mommy rode on the cat beside him and he jumped ship halfway through forcing daddy to balance 37 lbs of squirming toddler while standing up and moving in a circular motion. Don't let the looks fool ya....this thing goes pretty fast.

Overall I'd say the look on Colin's face explains it all.....he had a really good time!! We followed up with cherry limeades and a long nap.

Wrightsville Beach 2009

These are the pictures of our Wrightsville Beach trip on July 29th and 30th. Colin's first trip to see the ocean and play along the shore.

Colin talking on the phone at the beach. He would answer hello and jabber in baby talk to someone for great lengths of time. The idea of a phone with a cord is thrilling to him since mommy and daddy have none at home.

Notice the look on Colin's face. He would run into the waves with this look on his face, fall down, amd crawl back to the shore to do it all again. No fear of the ocean, that's for sure.

Matt will hate that I posted this picture (don't tell him) but I love it!! Both of my handsome boys posing for a picture on the beach.

Colin posing for a picture while eating a hushpuppy at King Neptune's seafood restaraunt in Wrightsville Beach. My boy loves him some fried starches....yummmmy!!

Colin finally letting loose and playing in the sand...but notice he still has his crocs on. Not sure where he gets it, but doesn't like getting his feet dirty. Even wanted to wear his crocs in the ocean.

Chipee & Betsy's July 2009

These are pictures from our trip to Lawrenceville, GA to visit with Aunt Betsy and Uncle Chipee. We arrived on Thursday night...ate, shopped, swam, ate some more, had cake, colored, and were introduced to the world of play dough. All in all, it was a fabulous weekend and hopefully we were decent enough house guests that we'll be invited back next summer.

Everyone coloring in harmony at Chipee's....well for about 5 seconds. Colin hasn't quite mastered the art of sharing or letting others color with him. He refuses to let me or anyone else color with him and abruptly takes your crayon away. Poor Mallory. Oh well, something to work towards.

Don't let my appearance fool you....that water was COLD!! If it wasn't for Colin, mommy wouldn't have been IN the pool but lounging BY the pool. Regardless of temperature, Colin loves the water. He loved getting out of the pool and climbing back in by way of the ladder.

Grammy and D.J. Mallie Mal posing for the camera. Unfortunately, no pix of cousion Mallory and Colin in the pool together. They were on alternating nap schedules so ended up taking turns being the center of attention in the water.

I love this picture of the "girls". Grammy, Aunt Betsy, and Cousin Mallory all enjoying the pool and warm weather.

I think the saying goes "anthing goes at aunt betsy and uncle chipee's". And you can see that the theory is true based on the nutty buddy in one hand and popsicle in the other picture. Colin quite enjoyed the entire visit from plane ride, double desserts, swimming, bath time, to giant coloring books and his first experience with playdough. I hear Erin has lots to teach him.

I know you guys have seen this one before. But he's just so cute, I had to add it in one more time :)

Summertune Fun

Thought we'd share some pictures of Colin enjoying the outdoors in summertime. I found a $10 flower sprinkler at Wal-Mart that you hooks to the end of the hose and twirls around spitting out water. As you can see from the pictures below, he loves it!!

Colin strutting his stuff toward the sprinkler.

Check out those muscles!!

One more. It's the little things I guess when you're little that make you so happy!!

Colin playing in his backyard pool and soaking up some sunny rays!

Colin taking part in filling up the pool. He's fascinated with the hose and always end of drenching himself trying to drink from it.

Spaghetti for Dinner

I just had to post these pictures of Colin enjoying spaghetti for dinner, or as I used to call it when I was little "spusgetti". I guess the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. Spaghetti was my favorite food growing up....lots of noodles with marinara sans the hamburger meat. As you can see Colin just can't get enough of the noodles. I must add that he's actually gotten pretty good about using his fork and spoon except when it comes to this dish. I'm not sure where he learned to eat like this.

Who is that in the background?? A certain cat I know loves marinara sauce too.

Mallory's First Birthday - Tennessee

Colin, Mallory, and Aunt Betsy playing with the new kitchen set. Things have come a long way since we were kids....this kitchen has all kinds of neat gadgets.

Colin showing off on the slide at the playground in Eastman Cabins. We took him for a quick trip to the playground while waiting for all the guests to arrive.

Mallory enjoying her first Birthday Cake!! Go Mallory!!

The Birthday Girl in her special chair! Mallory did great opening her birthday gifts!! Maybe Colin took notes and will actually sit still to open his gifts this year.

Colin telling Mallory how to steer her new Cozy Coupe. Already a backseat driver??

Colin playing with dad in the creek. It sure was cold in April!!

Easter Bunny

Colin's first Easter bunny basket!! The Easter bunny sure was generous this year...so much stuff it wouldn't all fit in the basket.

Colin playing tee ball Easter Sunday afternoon with his Easter bunny tee ball gift. He loves counting to three and swinging at the ball. You can see from the look on dad's face that he's trying pretty intently to teach him the proper way to hold the bat. Uncle Chippy and Dad are all about teaching Colin to be hard core at sports.

Colin enjoying his first ever traditional Easter time Peep!! I forgot just how sweet and sugary they are. He seemed to like them okay but luckily wasn't begging for more.

I love this picture of Colin touching the Gila Monster. It was all smooshy with rice like stuff inside and rubbery reptile skin on the outside. His face says it all!!

Summertime in March!!

These pictures are from Saturday and Sunday March 7th and 8th. Snow stayed on the ground in our backyard until Wednesday and this weekend the weather was beautiful, sunny, and in the 80's. The weekend was excellent for spending time outdoors and the time change gave us a a little extra time outdoors on Sunday evening. The picture taken below is of Colin getting into his Cozy Coupe with the sailboats from his water table. As you look through the pictures below, you'll notice that his gray t-shirt starts out dry and gets more and more soaked as he has fun playing and splashing in the water table that Chippy and Betsy got him for Christmas. I can see we're gonna have tons of fun with this thing all summer!!

Colin had a blast with his water table as you can see from the open-mouth pictures of him screaming and squealing with delight below.

Where does he get that blonde hair?? Not from mommy.

Notice above...soaked shirt. Notice below....just starting to play with watertable = dry shirt. Colin splashed so much I had to put his sneakers in the dryer.

I wonder whose football that is in the background?? Notice below...even dryer shirt.

The next pictures were taken Saturday and Sunday at Centennial Park near our house. They have two small jungle gyms and a swingset. Colin loves playing on the smallest jungle gym and can climb up the stairs and go down the slide all by himself.

Colin climbing through the tunnel of the jungle gym. No coaxing needed from his parents and no cares about who or what was at the other end.....this guy has no fear!! I'll be gray by the time I'm 32.

Colin in his wagon on the short hike from the parking lot to the playground. Notice the pleasant and inquisitive expression on his face....this tells you that this is the start of the trip and not the wagon ride from the playground to the car. Saturday Colin threw a huge tantrum because he did NOT want to leave the playground. Leaving was a little better on Sunday, but I think only because Grandmamma and Papaw came to see him play.

Colin on the swings at the park on Sunday. The higher he goes the happier he is. Notice his cute new summer sandals. He really likes the velcro and can take them off all by himself!!

North Carolina Blizzard February 2009

Our blizzard of February 2009 in North Carolina. We woke up on Tuesday morning and there was lots and lots of snow. Mommy had to go to work for a couple of hours that morning but was quickly back as the snow just kept piling up. By the end of the day we had almost 7 inches of snow!! That's quite a bit for the eastern parts of North Carolina. Unfortunately, there was no playing in the snow this time. Colin was still recooperating from the stomach virus that he picked up at school and our pictures were taken on the way to the pharmacy to pick up his anti-nausea medicine.

Colin walking through his first snow, and a big one at that!!

Saturday Fun - weekend after Christmas

After an early morning shopping trip (go figure) Aunt Betsy and Grammy joined us for some outdoor fun!! Look closely to see Colin sporting a plumbing pose (crack is whack Colin).

This is Colin outside of Grammy and Pap's playing with his Lil' Quad from Santa on the weekend after Christmas. The weather was beautiful and if I remember correctly sunny and in the 70's.

Despite how many times we showed him, Colin was more content pushing the Lil' Quad. Guess I should be happy seeing how pushing it is less dangerous and probably a good workout for those chunky little thighs.

Matt was trying out his new Christmas gift (his camera) and got this cool picture of George.

Jones Family Christmas - Tennesee

Jones family Christmas Dec 26th, 2008 in Tennesee at Grammy and Pap's house. This year was our first year drawing names for Christmas, so as you can see there weren't as many gifts under the tree. Yeah right!! The tree as always, is overflowing with gifts and wouldn't you know that Mallory and Colin had more gifts than anyone!!

Cousin Mallory unwrapping her gifts. I think I spy a Baby Einstein video!!

Betsy and cousin Mallory pose for a picture. While us grown ups opened presents Colin was actually napping. Poor guy missed all the unwrapping fun. Once he was up though, with help from mommy and daddy he was ready to unwrap.

Us girls looked over and noticed that all the boys were hard at work with Colin's legos. Daddy and Chippy are showing Colin how it's done. Colin loves to stack them and gets very angry when they fall down. He doesn't quite share in Erin's love of knocking over the blocks yet.
